We couldn’t do this important work without our dedicated team of Triathlon Trust ambassadors, trustees, partners, sponsors and volunteers.

Meet the people who support our mission to inspire young people to live more active, health lives through swim, bike and run.

Our ambassadors

Triathlon Trust Ambassadors are accomplished athletes who share our belief in the power of sport and physical activity to change lives. They volunteer their time to inspire children to be more active through swim, bike, run. Our ambassadors support Triathlon Trust through event appearances, corporate partner support and social media.

Lauren Steadman

Triathlon Trust Ambassador
World Champion Para-triathlete

“A personal highlight of supporting the Triathlon Trust is attending mini-tri events, and watching the excitement and determination across every child’s face as the complete their own triathlon!”

Lauren was born missing her lower right arm. She was challenged to be the best she can be and relishes the chance to overcome barriers. Her love of swimming saw her compete in her first Paralympic Games at the age of 11. She competed in her first triathlon, the 2011 British Championships, and came second.

In 2016, Lauren represented Team Great Britain in the sport’s inaugural entry to Paralympic Games in Rio, where she took home a silver medal.

Her current medal tally sits at 21 gold and 6 silver medals. Lauren’s achievements beyond triathlon are equally impressive. She holds degrees in Psychology and Business. She loves baking and appeared in BBC’s 2018 season of Strictly Come Dancing. As a proud ambassador of Triathlon Trust, Lauren is passionate about inspiring young people of all ages and abilities to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle.

Gary Adey

Chair, Board of Trustees

“My role with Triathlon Trust combines three of my personal passions: triathlon; diversity and inclusion; and giving back. From a triathlon perspective, I’d describe myself as a ‘passionate and enthusiastic late developer.”

As a Group Director at _VOIS (Vodafone Intelligent Solutions), Gary brings over 25 years of business experience to Triathlon Trust. His professional journey has spanned across finance, marketing, operations and sales roles. He spearheads digital transformation with commercial acumen and passion for customer experience. Gary firmly believes that customer experience excellence is the only way to build sustainable differentiation.

Gary’s commitment to driving successful outcomes is powered by his dedication to encouraging people to develop, succeed and fulfil their potential. He is an Executive Sponsor and active ally of the LGBT+ community and committed to authentically driving diversity and inclusion without exception.

Gary is also privileged to serve as Chair of the Teenage Cancer Trust Corporate Board and Advisory Board Member of Vodafone Business Ventures, a social enterprise supporting the Vodafone Foundation.

Gary lives in a lovely village in Berkshire with his wife Jo and two sons (who, he says, are both better triathletes than him.

Ruth Daniels

Triathlon Trust Trustee, CEO of British Triathlon

Ruth is the CEO of the British Triathlon Federation, taking over from Andy Salmon in January 2024. Ruth has held multiple executive leadership roles in primarily consumer-focused organisations; most recently with Superdry plc. Ruth has worked on major sports sponsorship deals, chaired Rounders England and recently worked with Women in Sport, bringing a broad range of skills and experiences to the role of Trustee at Triathlon Trust.

Patrick Craig

Trustee, Sport Development and Community Partnerships

‘’I’m a passionate advocate of sport and physical activity, particular for children and young adults. I’m really excited to be working with fellow trustees to use the power of swim, bike and run to drive positive change in areas that need it most.’’

Patrick brings 18 years of experience in sports development and administration to his role at Triathlon Trust. He is currently a Board Member and Company Secretary of the Leeds Triathlon Centre. In partnership with the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University, Leeds City and Council, and British Triathlon, the organisation is working toward the lofty ambition of making Leeds an ‘international city of triathlon’.

Patrick became involved in triathlon in 2010, when he took part in a local super-sprint event as a friendly challenge. In 2022, he completed his first Ironman event in the Lake District. Triathlon has become an important part of his life – both as a participant and a volunteer. Patrick lives in Harrogate with his wife and two children. In 2012, he helped establish a local triathlon club, which expanded to include juniors a few years later. He continues to coach at the club on a weekly basis.

Terri Lynam

Trustee, Marketing Communications

It is an exciting time for the sport of triathlon! Along with fellow trustees, I’m committed to the positive impact Triathlon Trust programs will deliver in communities across the UK.’

Terri is the Managing Director of In the Round Global, a sporting event consultancy. She brings a wealth of experience in brand building, marketing communications strategy, fan engagement, and inclusive spectator experience to her role with Triathlon Trust. A passionate advocate of inclusivity in sports, she is part the Women’s Sport Collective.

As an award-winning Marketing Communications Director with over 20 years of experience, Terri has worked on global sports events, including the London 2021 Olympics and Paralympics, three Commonwealth Games and two Rugby World Cups. She has led successful event marketing efforts for Speedway International and Rugby League World Cup, and consulted on projects for UEFA, Cricket World Cup and World Trampolining. She was appointed Creative and Spectator Experience Director for the 2022 World Gymnastics Championships.

Terri is an Australian living in Hampshire with her partner and three stepchildren. She loves the community atmosphere of live sports events, and enjoys swimming, walking, cycling, yoga, squash and netball.

Giorgio Cali

Trustee, Brand Partnerships and Fundraising

‘’With the support of our partners, Triathlon Trust can make a big difference in local communities. I look forward to inspiring young people to lead an active and healthy lifestyle through swim, bike and run.’’

Giorgio lives with his wife and two children in a pretty seaside town in Kent. As a keen year-round, open-water swimmer, he often swims in the English channel – Brrr!

As a Managing Director at a global investment bank, Giorgio has a breadth of experience working in the financial services industry and business development. He also holds a master’s degree from Warwick University.

Steve Paige

Trustee and CEO of Triathlon Scotland

‘Sport is incredible and has opened so many doors for me, put many smiles on my face and enabled me to experience so many amazing things.  I think being a trustee allows me to use triathlon in its many forms to change people’s lives and it’s a privilege to be a Trustee and I’m excited by the difference we can make.’

Steve is the CEO of Triathlon Scotland and lives in Edinburgh with his wife and two children, and not forgetting the Jack Russell.  Having worked across a number of governing bodies of sport, local authorities and leisure trusts over the last 25 years he has seen at first hand the power that sport has to positively change lives.  Being passionate about his local community he is also a Trustee of Duncan Place a community and enterprise hub in Leith, Edinburgh. 

A former cricketer who has coached at all levels from Primary School to International level, he now coaches the juniors at his local club and tutors the next generation of coaches.  He is a trail runner who has taken part in ultramarathons across Scotland and maybe, just maybe will progress from cross duathlons to his first triathlon.

Debbie Clarke

Trustee, Chair Triathlon England

‘’ Being a Trustee for the Triathlon Trust allows me to play a part in opening up our amazing sport to give opportunities to young people across the country. Giving something back to our communities is hugely rewarding.’’

Debbie was appointed Chair of Triathlon England and British Triathlon Federation Board member in 2020. She also serves as a Trustee for various not-for-profit organisations, including Child’s I Foundation, The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (CISI) and The CISI Future Foundation. Combing her passion for sports, financial education, and supporting families, she runs her own board advisory consultancy service.

Debbie regularly competes in a range of duathlon and triathlon events (from sprint to full distance) and is passionate about supporting triathlon novices. In 2009, she completed her first triathlon by supporting a friend participating in a super-sprint event. She qualified for her first GB Age Group team in 2014 and reached her first podium in 2022. As a Serpentine club member, she’s proud to wear the red and gold club kit.

Debbie lives in London and, as a lifelong runner, finds that running is the best way to explore any place she visits.

Catherine Roberts

Trustee, Triathlon Trust and CEO of Triathlon Cymru/Wales

Catherine is the current Chief Executive Officer of Triathlon Cymru/Wales. She moved to the sports sector in September 2023 after a successful and rewarding career in the NHS. Her move was triggered by her passion for Triathlon and the difference the sport makes to people’s health and wellbeing.

She is now strongly focussed on developing the triathlon community in Wales, within the wider British Triathlon Family.

She is an active parkrunner and parkrun volunteer, member of the triathlon section on Bynea Cycling Club and swims with Irontriswim group. She enjoys taking part in middle and long distance triathlons, preferably in warmer climates!

Brian Carlin

Advisor to Triathlon Trust Board

‘’ After three terms as a Triathlon Trust Board member, I’m pleased to continue working as a specialist advisor to the trustees at an exciting time in Triathlon Trust’s evolution. It’s great to see the power of swim, bike run benefitting local communities.’’

As an Executive MBA Graduate from Anglia Ruskin University, post-graduate lecturer in business, and honorary associate professor in musculoskeletal sciences, Brian brings extensive business expertise and experience to his advisory role with Triathlon Trust. He has served as Chair of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Charity and Chair of the Charity Chairs Group at the Association of NHS Charities. He is a Founding Partner of Aspire Law, a Founding Director of Aspire + Wealth Management, and a Longford Mentor, supporting former prisoners through higher education. Recognised as an Inspirational Leader in 2018, he led Aspire to be ranked 14th in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Not-for-Profit Organisations to work for in 2022.

A keen cyclist and triathlete, Brian has been representing Great Britain as a GB Age Group Long Distance Triathlete in the World and European Teams since 2010.

Stephen Rice

Advisor to Triathlon Trust Board

‘’ Having experienced the significant benefits of physical activity and competitive sport during my own life, my aim as a trustee is to work with others to provide young people and communities with access and opportunity through sport.’’

Currently working as Chair of Liberation Foods, Steve has been a member of the Triathlon Trust Board since 2019. He previously spent over 30 years working on asset management and investment banking, primarily as a Chief Operating Officer.

Steve has competed in triathlon for over 18 years, starting in pool-based sprint distance events with Bedford Harriers and moving onto middle- and long-distance events. Steve is taking a break from triathlon events to train for the 2024 Cape Wrath Ultra.
Steve lives in Ashbourne with his wife Rachael, and they have two adult children.
